Version 1 Current »

0. - Product families:

EVC, EVF, WALL

1. - Earthling Connections diagrams:

The IT system is not recommended for Charging Stations installation, if you use this system it requires the creation of a separate TN-S network for charging infrastructure.

The voltage between Neutral (N) and Ground (PE) must be below 10 V.

The Ground resistance must comply with current regulations and, in any case, be less than 100 Ohms.

2. - Individualized Supply Circuit:

The supply of each Charging Point is performed using an individualized circuit.

The electric vehicles charging network should not be affected by the failure of other circuits or other changing stations.

3. – Overcurrent protection:

Each individual line must be protected by:

  • A single phase circuit breaker 20 A curve C for normal charges ;
  • A three phase circuit breaker 20 A curve C for medium charges until 11kVA;
  • A three phase circuit breaker 40 A curve C for charges until 22 kVA.

Note*: Generally, the ENSTO Charging Points are provided with MCB of 16A and /or 32A

4. - Protection against direct contact:

Each Charging Point must be protected individually by a differential-residual current protection device (RCD) at most equal to 300 mA *, respecting the selectivity of the specific electrical installation.

RCD protecting must comply with local current regulations. ENSTO recommend the following:

  • Type A RCD in single phase.
  • Type B RCD in three phases.

Note*: The ENSTO Charging Points have a RCD with a sensitivity of 30mA.

5. - Charging Station electrical connections:

The Ensto Charging Stations are provided with connection terminals for the three phases (L1, L2, L3) Neutral (N) and Ground (PE).

In the case of the electrical system does not allow a connection with three phases (380V), the Charging Station can be connected in single phase (230V) using the connection terminals: L1, N and PE.

In all installation cases, single phase or three phase, it is recommended to perform a phase rotation on the charging station network.

Note: In a single phase installation, do not link terminals L1, L2, L3 between them.

6. -Ensto Charging Points Maximum Power:

Each Charging point can be connected to the electric network using a single phase or three phase. This provides the flexibility of 2 different levels of maximum power:

  • Single phase:    230V, 32A        Total: 7.3 kW
  • Three phase:     380V, 32A        Total: 22 kW

7. - Charging Station Installation:

Depending on the Body or accessory you purchase, the Ensto Charging Station can be installed:

On Wall: When selecting the installation location, ensure that the wall is made from a suitable and robust material. The mounting surface must be flat and vertical.

On Ground: On existing concrete surface with sufficient size to answer the product needs. Or, make a concrete block.  In both cases M8 threaded rods or M8 expandable bolt will be needed to attach the charging station.

In 2 cases it is recommended to take steps to prevent the nuts / bolts loosen over time.

Note 1: In all cases electric cable routing must be taken into account when planning the installation. See product Installation instructions for details.

Note 2: To facilitate the work, installation accessories are available. More details in each product installation instructions.

8. – Power Cable:

The cable section must be verified before installation. Consider: supplier's specifications, type of cable, installation mode, installation type, length, and other factors.

Example: Single phase cable (220 volts with a cosj 1). The lengths are expressed in meters, with a consistent voltage drop of 3%.

9. - Mechanical Protection:

To prolong the life of the Charging Station, Ensto recommends installing a flexible or rigid mechanical protection.

                           Example A                                                                        Example B

10. - Commissioning:

For each charging point we need check:

  • Ground resistance. (must be less than 100 ohms)
  • Voltage between Ground and Neutral (must be less than 10 volts)
  • Voltage between Neutral and each phase.
  • Voltage between each phase (L1 and L2, L1 and L3, L2 and L3)

All these tests can be performed from electrical main terminals of each Charging point and the results must comply with local regulations.

Note: In order to test the electrical circuit of each charging point (from charging station main terminals to charging socket) a specific tool is available and sold separately.
