We have now 3 different kind of type 2 sockets:

The rubber sealing gasket can be removed from the first version of sockets.

The rubber sealing gasket cannot be removed from second and third version of sockets.

First and third version of sockets looks almost the same as they have both same kind of rubber sealing gasket but the serial number is where you can see the difference and the new socket is shiny from the inside and the first version has matte finish.

Second version has thin and flat rubber sealing gasket and it is also shiny.

Picture below is from the second version of socket.

Note: April 17th 2018. Gasket remove apply only on old version Phoenix contact T2 socket. Gasket have to remain on new version (socket serial number starting from 25055...) to avoid locking motor issue (please refer to page 4 of this document).

Following different quality issue (so far found 9 cases from Finland and 3 from other countries) decision is taken to remove the Gasket from the Phoenix Contact T2 socket during production.

This should apply from now (December 18th 2017) for new production and during the revision of the stock product build in Vernon.

Please note it is safe to remove gasket completely, because charging point has water drainage. Find bellow socket supplier statement, that IP class remains same after gasket removal.

Socket Gasket removal confirmation from Phoenix Contact:

April 17th 2018. Gasket remove apply only on old version Phoenix contact T2 socket. Gasket have to remain on new version to avoid locking motor issue.

Old P.C. socket version using big gasket with multiple lips give problem as the gasket move out of is location and its push to the bottom of the socket.

New P.C. socket version use finer lips free gasket. The previous quality issue should be avoid.

New Phoenix Contact socket version have a play between the internal plastic parts. The Gasket is use to reduce that play. If Gasket is taking off, the play will be too big and create problem with the locking motor (please refer to below picture).

Gasket should not be removed from new Phoenix Contact T2 socket version.

Note: We have now third version available!! In the picture below you can see the second version of the gasket on the left and on the right you can see the first version of the gasket. Third version of the gasket is almost the same as the first version.
